Year of the NCO Posted by: ohmra on Monday, July 13, 2009 - 12:00 AM As you may know this year 2009, is the year the NCO. With this in mind I'm sending out this letter to all members of the Ohio Military Reserve Association. As the newly elected second vice president, it is my firm belief that this association if supported can get us through the upcoming and difficult times of new leadership
As an enlisted soldier from more than 40 years of service to my state and my country I have watched the NCO corps grow and grow, with better training more professionalism they are truly soldiers the 21st century. I know that we all share the burdens of unacknowledged service to our state and country, but is by no means reflects the true worth and respect for fellow service members on active duty in foreign countries. I firmly believe the new TO, when it is augmented will greatly becoming a tighter more organized unit.
The President of the Association has sent me an e-mail, requesting my ideas on how we can gain more active members and keep the lines of communication open. With this in mind I am suggesting that each battalion and each company senior NCO be named by its commanders as a representative to the members of his unit for the Association. This could be a command Sergeant Major, first Sergeant or platoon sergeant, as these men are the leaders and most likely to be in contact with them in a daily basis.
I hope to be seeing all of you at AT this year and I will be representing our association and be willing to sit and talk with all my comrades in arms about the challenges before us.
Respectfully:
CSM (r) Jerry Reynolds
2nd VP Association OHMRA

Commission on the National Guard and Reserves Posted by: OC_David_Reed on Tuesday, June 06, 2006 - 12:00 AM Everyone:
The Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005 established an independent Commission on the National Guard and Reserves which is charged by Congress to conduct a comprehensive examination of how the Guard and Reserves are used in national defense, including homeland defense, and to recommend any needed changes in laws and policies governing the Guard and Reserves.
The Commission has issued its 90-day preliminary report. So far, among all of the witnesses, several TAGs have testified. While I have yet to see any particular mention of SDFs so far, the Commission’s eventual findings could have a real impact on our mission. You may want to follow these developments…

Memorial Day Posted by: MAJ_Reeseman on Monday, May 29, 2006 - 12:00 AM If you have children, take a moment on Memorial Day to explain to them what the weekend is all about. When you have a moment for yourself, I recommend reading Peggy Noonan's column in the Wall Street Journal. It addresses our situation in the State Defense Forces better than I ever could.
From Eternity to Here
If you take one thing away from this, remember that quiet service is still honorable service.
